Sunday Morning blooper!!!

So I was tricked into preaching with Noah this Sunday. He said I would share and reflect on what he said. So when we practiced together on Saturday I quickly realized that I was doing most of the talking. I started to panic.

Well, when Sunday came along I was getting pretty nervous and I had a lot of irons in the fire (like most Sundays). During the song service I was given a countryman mic. They had to hook it to the back of my dress. I had to leave the service before the sermon to help get the kids lined up for their special Mother's day presentation that we had been working on.

So here is the Blooper: I decided to go to the bathroom before I went back to my seat. Well I definitely forgot that I was hooked up to the mic ( I am so thankful it was not on). I accidentally dropped it into the toilet. Let's just say I used a hand held for the sermon.

I told Noah what had happened during lunch and all her could say was, "That's my girl!"

Family Day!!!

Family Day at the Park

I had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day! It started out with my two special guys waking me up with sweet little kisses. Then off to church we went to have our special Mother's Day service. We had such a blessed and fun Sunday morning service.

Mommy and DayDay

Davis' two mommies

Davis loves his Aunt Bird

I have such a sweet boy! I hope he stays that way.

Noah and I team preached this morning. The sermon title was "Hats Off" I had a blast once my nerves calmed down.

After church we headed to Davidsonville, MD to have a family picnic with Noah's side of the family. The Kaye family keeps going; there is 18 of us now.

Mel and Mom and I believe Joshua is under that blanket

James getting in a little Lacrosse game.

Brayen riding Davis' balance bike. Davis just got this bike this week. Soon he will be a pro like his cousin Bray!

We had a blast playing whiffle ball

Batter up!!

Davis is trying to be like his cousin Gabe. He loves playing baseball!

What a fun day our family had! It is so nice to do things with our whole family and I feel so blessed to be apart of an amazing one.

Your turn...What did you do for Mother's Day?

Mother Number 3

Last but not least.... I am going to talk about mother number three. This is my mother in-law Pamela Beth Kaye (Davis).

There is soo much that I can say about my mother in-law. I have to say I was a bit intimidated when I first met her back in 1999. Noah took me home to meet his family and all he told me was that his mom adored her boys and that she had told him over and over that he better choose the right women to be his wife. Why in the world did I agree to go after that statement? It didn't take me long to fall in love with his family, especially his mom.
At that time in my life I really needed a mommie's love and someone I could feel comfortable sharing the pain and hurt that I experiences during my childhood. She helped me through a lot and helped also make me become the women I am today. Pam Kaye is not only my mother in-law, but she is my mom (in all ways), friend, confidant, counselor, and so much more.

There are two things that my mother in-law has said to me over the lasts several years that have made an immense impact one me;
1. "I wasn't sure you were good enough for my son, but now I wonder if he is good enough for you."

2."We haven't added a daughter in -law, we have gained another daughter."

Since I have been part of the Kaye family, Pam has always treated me like a daughter and never hesitates to be real with me. I would say, "Mom, why are you so hard on me?" and her reply is, "because honey I hold you to a high standard."

"Mom, Thank you for loving me unconditionally and for treating me like one of your own daughters. Please continue to speak into my life even when you "think" you are upsetting me. You are not and I just need more time to process the request and sometimes I resist the obligations that is put on my as the pastor's wife. Thanks for raising an AMAZING son and for being a wonderful Grammy to Davis. I am so blessed to have you in my life and to not only call you mom but to call you friend. Happy Mother's Day!!!

My Boyfriends Back in Town!!!

My husband is back!!!! I got a sweet kiss around 2:30 this morning. If he hadn't just gotten home I would have given him a peace of my mind for waking me and Davis up, but we were so happy to see him. Davis opened his eyes and gave the biggest smile and said, "Daddy home!" He crawled into Noah's arm and fell right back to sleep.

Davis and I are so happy that daddy is home and safe (driving from Atlanta) and we are looking forward to this summer (Noah is on a 2 month sabbatical).

Mother Number 2

Not many people can say that they have been blessed with more then one mom, but I have. God has blessed me with not just one mom to raise me, but two. Here is my mom, Teresa Rivera (Pagan).

My father married her when I was eleven and our family went from four to six. My mom would tell me that I stole her heart the first day she saw me and even though I didn’t come from her womb, I came from her heart.

I didn’t have many memories of my mom Judy, but I do have many of my mom Terry and she also played a big part in who I am today. I know that I have a lot of my mom Judy in me because we share the same bloodline, but my mom Terry helped raise me and steer me in the right direction. She was there for the things that a daughter would need a mother for, like:

Relationship
• Teaching me all the women things (how to dress, hygiene, make up, when my "friend" first came to visit!).
• To tell me how proud she was of me.
• To show me through her actions how to take care of a home and a family.
• She taught me the importance of saving.
• To be my chauffeur when I needed a ride to and from school, soccer practice, ski club, mall, movies, girlfriends house, etc..
• She understood when I needed a day off from school or when I needed to come home early.
• When I needed a hug
• When I needed to be disciplined(all I needed was to see her raise her right eyebrow and I was set straight. I didn’t want to know what came after the eyebrow)!

I could go on and on about what my mom has done for me but it would take many blogs and she is still not done investing in my life. When my father passed away two years ago, she could of said, "I have no obligation to her anymore, she really isn't my daughter, I do not owe her anything," but she didn't. She truly believes that I am her daughter regardless of who birthed me, and for that I am truly grateful. Teresa Rivera is and always will be my mom and nothing will ever stop me from loving and protecting her.

Last Sunday in Capi's kids, I had the kids make a poster for their moms. They had to use one word to describe their mom and I made one to give them an example. The word that I used to describe my mom was STRONG. My mom has gone through a lot and has overcome a lot and that is what I deeply admire about her. She could of crawled in a hole after my father passed away, but she didn't. She relied of the strength of God Almighty to get her through and she found ways to praise and give Him thanks. That was so hard for me to do at first, but seeing her strength really helped me give thanks to God.

Mommy, Thank you so much for loving me for the past 19 years. I am so very grateful to you and I love you very much. I hope that you know that I am always here for you and will love and protect you as long as you are on this earth. Thank you for loving and taking care of my dad and for taking care of the home on top of all your other responsibilities. I am so grateful when you come visit me and bless me with you many talents. Thank you for loving Noah like a son and for loving Davis. He truly loves his Abuela and I know he is going to miss you when you go back home. I look forward to the many years we have together and all the memories that we will make. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Love you baby girl,
Tricia (the 3rd T)

April Showers Brings May Flowers?!?!

What happen to "April Showers brings May Flowers?" I think mother nature is a bit confused and someone needs to tell her that April is over!

It has been raining for weeks and at this point I wonder if it will ever stop. This weekend my brother in- law started singing "Rain, Rain go away." You know it is bad when a 40 year old man is singing a kids song. URGH!!! I want the rain to stop and the sun to come out. I want to enjoy the spring weather before it gets too hot to be outside. Davis keeps asking to go to the park and I keep telling him it is raining or the park will be to wet.

SO, Let's sing the song and hope it comes true!!!!

Mother Number 1

As Mother's Day is approaching I wanted to take this week and blog about the three moms that have played a role in my life. I hold each mother dear to my heart and each have played a part in who I am today.

I am starting with the one that gave me life: My Mom, Judith Martha Rivera(Lawrence).

My Mother passed away on May 3, 1990. I do not have a lot of memories of my mom, but I do remember a few highs and lows. I remember....
  • Her love
  • She always let me hug and hang on her (that is why she got me a bear that said,"I'm so lovable).
  • She tried to make everything special for her children (holidays, birthdays, vacations)
  • She spoiled us way too much (She knew she wouldn't always be around).
  • Even at a young age, I knew how much she loved the things of God.
  • I loved hearing her sing ( she use to sing, "I cast all my cares" to me).
  • She didn't believe in time out ( if you know what I mean).
  • I only remember her sick.
  • There were times I couldn't visit her at the hospital (she didn't want me to see her with tubes in her mouth).
There is a memory that has stayed with me through the years.

The last day we spend just the two of us. I woke up one morning ready for school and my dad told me that I was going to the hospital instead; to spend the day with my mom. My dad dropped me off and left me alone with my mom. I remember my mom looked so tired and so weak. Being a mom, I now know how hard it must have been to pull herself together to share a memory (probably her last) with her little girl. She patted the bed for me to jump on and she just held me for what seemed like an eternity, but I didn't mine. I loved hugging her and feeling safe in her arm. I remember her telling me how much she loved me and how sorry she was for being sick. She told me how special I was and I recall her praying with me. She loved to pray and I learned earlier on how important prayer was (She taught me that with her "no time out policy") That is for another blog!!! We spent the rest of the day playing board games (Head of the Class, Candyland, Sorry, etc) and watching TV. Leaving with my dad that evening I never knew that within a few days I would never have a day like this again with her. What a gut wrenching feeling for me! I will never forget that special day that we shared. It meant the world to me!!!

My mother was an extraordinary women. She had many gifts and talents, more then I could write on a blog. She left a legacy not only in her children but the people that she touched. I have heard so many stories from people telling me how my mom blessed their lives and how amazing she was. When I have talked to some of my moms former friends and told them I wish I had more memories of my mom and knew what kind of women she was, they would tell me, "Look in the mirror honey and you will see her." and "You are Judy reincarnated." That is the greatest compliment to get and I hope I keep growing to be more like her!!!

I wish I had more time with her and that she was able to see all that I have accomplished, but I know she would have been proud of me. I also know that God placed others in my life to see my accomplishments and tell me what any daughter would want to hear from their mom. I will see her again and when I do I am definitely jumping in her bed and letting her hug me for eternity!!!

Testing Week!!!

This week my school has Stanford Achievement Testing. My students came in ready to go and they did a Wonderful job following directions. I hope this is a good sign for the rest of the week!!!

O Happy May!!!

I had a great day today until I was leaving work. Started down the road I take everyday and noticed that the main road that I was going to merge onto had a several mile back up. The inpatient person that I am, decided to turn around and take another way. Well I did a u- turn and I "swear" I used my reverse camera (this is what I told my husband), but some how I didn't see the fire hydrant.

Now my great day is no more!!!!!!

My husband isn't really happy with me and he has already told me it is going to the shop next week. URGH!!!!

Brayden's Name Gallary!!!

Our dear friends Jake and Michelle Zieg experience great loss last June 2008. Their 17 month old son was called home after a sudden tragedy. Our hearts have been so heavy for them and have tried to support them any way we can. Michelle decided to do a "Brayden Name Gallary".

She has gotten a lot of picture and they were so creative. My son, Davis was only two days younger then Brayden and we are so sad that he is not going to grow up with his buddy, Brayden. Here is the picture that Davis send to the Zieg's
