So Blessed!!!

My son Davis has brought us so much joy this summer. I am so glad that I am going to be home with him more this year.

For me this is all that matters (beside God and Noah) and he makes me so happy. "Thank you Jesus for blessing me with this Awesome boy and giving me the opportunity to raise him and love him. Let this be the best year ever with him!"

Joy Riding!!!!

This is Davis' favorite thing to do at his Uncle Gorden's house!!!!

Naptime!!!

Here is my boy taking a nap on his spider man bed. He was really tired because he didn't care that he was half off his bed!!!! You can't see but if you look close at his right hand you can see it touching his bobo (pacifier). He has this habit of holding his pointer finger up to his bobo and leaving it there while he sleeps. It is so cute!!! I will try to post a picture showing him doing it.

Good To Be With Family!!!

Today we arived in Columbus, GA to visit the Davis family. We always have a great time visiting with them. They always roll the red carpet out when we come. All the family that live here take the time out of their schedule to come over and visit during our stay. Noah has very little extended family so we make an effort to see the Davis' every year.

I am always amazed to see how the kids change in one year and this year they couldn't believe how much Davis had changed. I am looking forward to the next two days here with the Davis Family.

This was posted with my iPhone so please forgive any mistakes.

Our journey Home!!!

As parents may know, traveling with a toddler can be hard. Even harder when you have over 3000 miles to drive until you reach your destination. Today we make our way back East and we are a long way from home!!!!

On our journey out here to Colorado, we had my 16 year old niece traveling with us. It was such a blessing to have another person to help meet Davis' needs. It would have been a much longer trip if my niece wasn't with us. She couldn't stay the whole summer and so we flew her home and we were left with the fact that we had to drive back without her. Not a FAT chance!!!

Yesterday we picked up Jaye Lindo's daughter Stephanie from the Denver Airport. She was willing to fly out and help us drive back East. She has only been here a day and she has already blessed us and she has even been great company.

So as we make are way tomorrow I am a lot happier with the fact that we have this beautiful young lady with us. "Thank you Stephanie and Thank you Robert and Jaye for parting with your baby for 11 days."

How Do You Hear From God???

I love to read and I have many authors that I love, but my favorite one is Sheila Walsh. She is one of the Women of Faith speakers and I look forward to hearing her speak every year. Each year I look forward to reading her new book. I love how real and open she is in her books and as a women, I can relate to her.

I really learned a lot from her last year's book: Get Off You Knees and Pray

Here are some things that I took away from reading this book:
  • God wants to hear from you!
  • He doesn't care how well you pray; just talk to him.
  • It is important to pray for your husband and your children EVERYDAY.
  • When you are angry with someone, pray for them and also pray God will change your heart.
  • He doesn't answer other people's prayer because He likes them better.
  • He wants you to lay your burdens down so He can carry us through
  • Mostly, you are never alone!!!
One chapter really stuck out to me: "How do I know I heard God's voice"

What a good question!! Many times I sit and wonder the same thing. Am I really hearing God's voice or how can I hear His voice clearly? Sheila gave three simply ways to hear God's voice.

Read His word:
  • He didn't write it for it to sit on a shelf (I can be so guilty of this)!
  • He tells us how we should live in His word.
Prayer:
  • If we pray and keep the line of conversation open, we will be open to the whispers we may hear.
Get GODLY counsel
  • Not every Christian is the right person you should get counsel from.
  • They should be more spiritually mature then you.
  • You should be able to trust them to keep things confidential.
  • They should be for "you" ( giving you truth in love) and not out for their own agenda.
This really got me thinking about how I think I may hear from God. I need to do more praying and reading his word and less listening to other people, especially if it is not Godly counsel. This journey is not an easy one and I am constantly needing to learn and change directions!!!

"Get off Your Knees and Pray" By Sheila Walsh is a must read. If you live near Bowie I would be happy to lend you my copy!!

Davis' visit to the North Pole!

This week we took Davis to the North Pole to visit Santa. He wouldn't go near Santa but he did have fun riding on all the rides!

Daddy and Davis waiting to ride the cars!!!

He held down on the horn for the whole ride. The worker was glad when the ride was over!!!

He got his boat ride he has been asking for!!

He went near the snowman but not Santa!!!

"I am a bit bored"

Noah and I both got sick after riding this ride.

I took this picture. Not bad!!!

Dinner gone wrong!!!!

Last week we spent two nights in Utah. We had a great time and the views were amazing. The lodge we stayed at had a great restaurant and we decided to eat dinner here both nights (the town was 30 minutes away).

Dinner night # 1:

He was such a good little boy at dinner the first night.

Dinner night # 2

We were so thankful that we were sitting in a corner away from everyone. He was in rare form the second night and I thought Noah was really going to lose it!!! Don't you love parenthood?!?!?

"My Mommy"

Last week Noah, Davis and I had a very funny conversation. It went something like this:

N: Davis I am going to let you sleep with my wife but I want you to know this is my bed.
D: NO, my bed and this is my mommy.

N: She is your mommy and my wife. This is my bed and I am going to let you sleep in it.

D: NO, mine and mommy's bed. You go sleep in your room over there (he pointed to the room down the hall). This is my room.
N: NO, your room is down the hall and this is my bed where I sleep with my wife. D: NO, not your wife, my wife.

Boys and their mommies! I love the fact that Davis thinks I am his wife. We just started laughing after he said that and Noah ended the conversation by hugging and kissing us goodnight. He continued to laugh as he walked down the hall to "his bed." If we were at home, Davis would be in the middle of us but I am not sharing a queen bed with my two boys. Especially when a certain 2 year old can't lay still!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HATME!!!

Summer TV!!!

Summer TV has never been fun. I barely turn the TV on because there is never anything on. Before we left for Colorado I was searching Netflix "watch instantly" list. I came across a TV series called McLeod's Daughters.

McLeod's Daughters tells the story of the two McLeod sisters who are reunited when they inherit a vast outback cattle property. Thrown together after 20 years apart they pull together an all-female workforce and, with an abundance of heart and humor, commit to an extraordinary life at Drovers Run.

I have watched the first 2 seasons and I have thoroughly enjoyed them. I cannot wait to get my hands on season 3!!!

Potty Time

So we have started down the road to potty training. What a job!!! Every 20 -30 minutes we are going to the potty whether he goes or not. Davis feels the need to take his shorts, pull-ups and shoes completely off every time. God continue to give me the patience I need!!!

I wanted to give him some incentive every time he actually goes potty. So I purchase a behavior chart and wrote "Potty" below his name. Every time he goes potty he gets to put a sticker on his chart. When the chart is all filled up, he get a little something.

So here is his first completed "Potty" Chart":

He picked a $2.00 ball from Target. We are so proud of him!!!

Sabbatical Highligths!!!

This past week we went to Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. We had so much fun!!!

Here are some of the pictures we took:

Davis loves the Carousel!

We rode across that. I was a bit scared!

Davis petting a baby goat!

We took Davis on a donkey ride. This was his highlight!

They are searching for gold. Didn't have any luck!

Let us out!!!

Walking across the bridge.

Taking in the sights!!!

We rode on that too!!

Where am I going to stand?

Last ride for the day!

Couldn't leave without driving across the bridge. That's my boy for you!!

My Little Cowboy!!!

Trying to do tricks with his Lasso. Some lady passed by and said, "Nice Lasso!" Davis' response was,"Hey Lady, not a Lasso...It's my cowboy rope." He doesn't understand they mean the same thing!

My cute cowboy!!!

Mini Word!

We attended New Life Church our first week in Colorado. We had a great experience and enjoyed Pastor Brady's (Senior Pastor) sermon.

He spoke out of Proverbs 3: 5-6:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,and he will make your paths straight."

This passage and Pastor Brady really spoke to me. Here are the three points I got out of it:

  1. Trust:
  • We need to place our trust in God.
  • "There is no one like our God"
  • Question: Who is the first person you call when bad things happen? Shouldn't our answer be God? I know that wasn't the first name that popped in my head. What about you?
  • It is ok to go to others but God should be our first stop. He needs to know we trust him first.
  • In whom will you trust?
2. Lean:
  • We need to lean on God ( Isaiah 55:8).
  • If we lean on ourselves and follow our heart where is that going to get us? In a ditch somewhere!!!
  • If we trust and Lean on God, He will set our path straight.
  • Quote: "Worry is a commitment to your own thinking."
  • If you think you are the one who needs to figure you life out good luck sleeping at night!
  • Commit to God's thinking.
  • If you want to end up in the right place, then listen up because God's wants to tell you.
3. Acknowledge:
  • Acknowledge a faithful friend; God.
  • We have the best father in heaven.
  • Ask Him: "Dad am I doing it right?" "I need your guidance."
How well are you with trusting, leaning, and acknowledging God? This is in an area in my life that I am always working on.

"God, help us all to trust and lean on you more. Help us to acknowledge that you love us and wants what is best for us. Continue to speak into our lives in hope we will open our ears to hear."

Movie Night!!!

Last night Noah, Davis, and I popped the popcorn and curled up for a "movie night." We picked Beverly Hills Chihuahua and told Davis that we were going to watch a movie with dogs like Miles and Colby (our dogs). He was so excited and couldn't stop asking to see the movie like Miles and Colby.

Colby and Miles

The movie was great and Davis sat for the whole 91 minutes glued to the tube. I was so taken back how much Papi ( the tan dog) really did look like Miles.

GREAT night with the family!!!!
