7 Years!!!

I can't believe it has been 7 years already. What an amazing journey I have had being married to this man in the picture!!! He stole my heart almost the very first time I met him and he has had it ever since. I feel so honored and blessed to be Noah's wife and there are days when I have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming.

To celebrate our anniversary we are heading out in the next few hours for a cruise vacation. We are going with some of our small group and other friends. So this is my last post for a while....

The Memories Still Hold

On June 6, 2008 we had to say goodbye to this bundle of joy. Just as I am writing this blog I am remembering the panicked phone call that we got a year ago when we were told that Brayden was no longer with us. I remember feeling numb and my heart was filled with agony not just for myself, but for Jake and Michelle. All Noah and I wanted to do was get to them as quick as possible, but we lived 600 miles away. So we hopped on a plane to Raleigh and drove the rest of the way to Summerville, SC. It was one horrific week to walk Jake and Michelle through but I would have never wanted to be anywhere else but right beside them.

Michelle send letters to her friend and even blogged about a memory project that she was asking everyone that knew Brayden to participate in this project. So I decided to blog my memory of Brayden Russell Zieg....


My special memory is that Michelle and I carried our babies together. I consider Michelle a dear friends and we have been through a lot together since College. We were so excited that we were pregnant together and when she found out she was having Brayden on January 5th we were even more excited because our sons would be 2 days apart. When we were given the opportunity to spend time with the Zieg family, I always loved holding Brayden and making him laugh. He had the biggest smile and the sweetest spirit. "Brayden, you will be missed but I know Jesus is taking good care of you."

Noah here now...

Jacob (Brayden's Dad) and I have been friends for 25 years now. Seeing as how we are both just near 30 years old, we are what you would call "lifetime friends"! Well, so were our sons! Born just 2 days apart, Brayden and Davis (My son) became buddies. Unfortunately, their "lifetime friendship" only lasted 17 months. But, their Daddy's friendship will keep going.

One of the things that I loved the most about Brayden was that amazingly big smile. I remember how that mouth would open up and he would grin from ear to ear. His laugh was contagious. That is a gift that a baby gives. More than they know. I also remember watching Jake play rough with him...really rough!!! Remember, being a first time Dad myself, I was not sure how fragile these Little guys were (or were not). Since Jake was already on baby boy #2, he had determined the limits...and there were none. He flipped him and ripped and dropped him...all while Brayden cracked up and Michelle said "Jaaaake" in that drawn out corrective whine.

One more thing. I feel that over the last year Jake and Michelle have modeled what healthy grieving looks like. Many times, you hear people tell folks that have lost a loved one to "keep the memory alive." But most people do not. Jake and Michelle have!! They have kept the memory of Brayden alive for all of us by writing about him, blogging about him and reminding us of his memory.

Movie Night!!!

This movie is a favorite in the Kaye/Hunt household right now. We have watched it every night for the past week. This is the first movie that Davis has watched from start to finish without moving.

Practice What Your Preach!!!

So this week I was given the opportunity to put into practice what Noah and I talked about at MLL. I asked Noah to dress Davis this morning before we headed out to have breakfast with the Okanya's. This is what my son wore all day.


It took a lot for me to just say thank you and leave this outfit on Davis. First of all, I am not sure the last time I saw Noah wear a shirt and shorts that were the same color! Second of all, it was 60 degrees out today. Davis did complain a few times that he was cold!!!

I need to be more of a lover-wife then a mother wife. So thanks babe for dressing our boy today and I am sure he will never remember wearing this outfit!!!

I made it through!!!

Today was my last day at work. My friend Satheva and her girls came to help me and offer moral support. There were a few things that I still needed to take home and I had the last minute touches to do to close the room up for the summer.

Then the time came to turn in my school keys. I didn't even make it into the school office before tears were flowing down. My Principal was standing there and I couldn't say anything. He reached for me and pulled me into a bear hug. He whispered the sweetest things to me and told me how honored he was to of had me for the past five years.

I walked back to my classroom to grab my stuff and I stood in the front of my classroom and balled my eyes out and when I was able to get it together I prayed for the lives of the many children that will come through this classroom. I prayed for their souls, their families, their academic abilities. I also pray that God would put the right teacher to teach amazing first graders that will continue to come through Berwyn Christian School.

Here is a letter I got from one of my students on the last day of school. This is one of the reasons I am going to miss teaching.


I have learned so much about myself these last five years. It have been a wonderful chapter in my life, one that I am sad to close. I know I am making the right decision for my family but I am still going to mourn teaching, the students, and my co-workers next year. I was truly blessed to be given the honor to teach and I pray that one day God will give me the opportunity to do it again.

My Monthly Chore!!!

Man do I hate paying bills every month. It takes me a long time to open bills, organize, and then get online and pay them. It hurts to see all this money leave my bank account each month. Killer!!!

I so wish I could turn it over to Noah, but the controlling wife in me wont let it happen. I think I need to work on that area of my life!!!

Last Day of School!!!

I have not yet found a sippy cup that I absolutely love. I think they are so nasty and unclean. I would never drink from one, so why would I have my son. Duh, Because everyone else does!!!!
So I need your help! I am looking for a sippy cup that doesn't leak and is very easy to clean.

Noah and I have been Verizon customers for about 6 years now. Never thought I would leave but we become traders last week. I love Verizon but they do not have i phones and we wanted to upgrade to this fairly new technology. So we are now AT&T lovers!!!

I absolutely love my i phone. It is so easy to use (like me Mac) and I can have anything in my finger tips with in seconds. I love it!!! Thanks babe for talking me into getting one too!
