Mother Number 2

Not many people can say that they have been blessed with more then one mom, but I have. God has blessed me with not just one mom to raise me, but two. Here is my mom, Teresa Rivera (Pagan).

My father married her when I was eleven and our family went from four to six. My mom would tell me that I stole her heart the first day she saw me and even though I didn’t come from her womb, I came from her heart.

I didn’t have many memories of my mom Judy, but I do have many of my mom Terry and she also played a big part in who I am today. I know that I have a lot of my mom Judy in me because we share the same bloodline, but my mom Terry helped raise me and steer me in the right direction. She was there for the things that a daughter would need a mother for, like:

Relationship
• Teaching me all the women things (how to dress, hygiene, make up, when my "friend" first came to visit!).
• To tell me how proud she was of me.
• To show me through her actions how to take care of a home and a family.
• She taught me the importance of saving.
• To be my chauffeur when I needed a ride to and from school, soccer practice, ski club, mall, movies, girlfriends house, etc..
• She understood when I needed a day off from school or when I needed to come home early.
• When I needed a hug
• When I needed to be disciplined(all I needed was to see her raise her right eyebrow and I was set straight. I didn’t want to know what came after the eyebrow)!

I could go on and on about what my mom has done for me but it would take many blogs and she is still not done investing in my life. When my father passed away two years ago, she could of said, "I have no obligation to her anymore, she really isn't my daughter, I do not owe her anything," but she didn't. She truly believes that I am her daughter regardless of who birthed me, and for that I am truly grateful. Teresa Rivera is and always will be my mom and nothing will ever stop me from loving and protecting her.

Last Sunday in Capi's kids, I had the kids make a poster for their moms. They had to use one word to describe their mom and I made one to give them an example. The word that I used to describe my mom was STRONG. My mom has gone through a lot and has overcome a lot and that is what I deeply admire about her. She could of crawled in a hole after my father passed away, but she didn't. She relied of the strength of God Almighty to get her through and she found ways to praise and give Him thanks. That was so hard for me to do at first, but seeing her strength really helped me give thanks to God.

Mommy, Thank you so much for loving me for the past 19 years. I am so very grateful to you and I love you very much. I hope that you know that I am always here for you and will love and protect you as long as you are on this earth. Thank you for loving and taking care of my dad and for taking care of the home on top of all your other responsibilities. I am so grateful when you come visit me and bless me with you many talents. Thank you for loving Noah like a son and for loving Davis. He truly loves his Abuela and I know he is going to miss you when you go back home. I look forward to the many years we have together and all the memories that we will make. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Love you baby girl,
Tricia (the 3rd T)

I can honestly say that I thought the same thing when Dad passed away too because she didnt mourn very well in the past. But she has givin me strength over these past years just like you and that I am forever greatful. No parent is perfect and I am learning that with my own but she has been able to teach me from her own experience how to handle life in a Godly way....aren't we lucky?!?!?!
